Yamato Holdings Co., Ltd. announced that its Board of Directors, at a meeting held on September 3, 2026, resolved to conclude the operations of the domestic dedicated cargo aircraft conducted in partnership with Japan Airlines Co., Ltd. Yamato Holdings Co., Ltd. resolved to conclude the operations of the Domestic Freighters introduced by the Company, and has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Japan Airlines Co., Ltd. to bring the contract regarding the operations of the Domestic Freighters to a conclusion. The Yamato Group and the Japan Airlines Co., Ltd. Group commenced operations of the Domestic Freighters in April 2024 as a new transportation method to secure stable transportation capacity and maintain/improve service quality, in response to changes in the logistics environment, such as the decline in truck transportation capacity accompanying the logistics "2024 Problem." Currently, an increase in transportation costs for truck transportation is unavoidable due to labor shortages and soaring fuel prices. However, in air transportation as well, transportation costs have risen due to the ongoing depreciation of the yen and high fuel prices, and the price gap between truck transportation and air transportation has expanded contrary to initial expectations. In response to these challenges and to continue the operations of the Domestic Freighters, cost efficiency, optimizing supply and demand through route reviews, and developing the market by providing high-value-added services leveraging the characteristics of freighters were promoted. Under the current environment, in order to sustainably provide stable transportation services, it was determined that it is appropriate to conclude the operations of the Domestic Freighters and further utilize alternative transportation methods, including the passenger flight network (passenger aircraft bellies). The current operations of the Domestic Freighters are scheduled to continue until around June 2027. For customers currently using the service, a smooth transition to alternative transportation methods utilizing the transportation networks of the Yamato Group and the Japan Airlines Co., Ltd. Group, including passenger aircraft bellies, will be facilitated, and stable and sustainable transportation services will continue to be provided. Particularly in the Kyushu and Hokkaido areas—where increased demand is expected for agricultural and marine products as well as industrial products such as semiconductors and automobiles—air transportation, including passenger aircraft bellies, centered around Kitakyushu Airport and New Chitose Airport, which the government is promoting to strengthen as international aviation logistics hubs, will continue to be utilized. By doing so, conventional transportation quality and convenience will be maintained, and an appropriate and progressive transportation system tailored to the logistics needs of each region will be built. The Yamato Group and the Japan Airlines Co., Ltd. Group will continue to contribute to the promotion of the "New Modal Shift" outlined in the government's Comprehensive Logistics Policy, aiming to build a sustainable logistics network through the utilization of management resources including passenger aircraft bellies and the sharing of expertise. Furthermore, contribution to regional revitalization and promoting regional industrial development and transportation by leveraging the characteristics of each region, such as geographical advantages, will be dedicated. As the operations are scheduled to continue until around June 2027, the impact on the consolidated financial forecasts for the current fiscal year ending March 31, 2027 is expected to be minimal. The specific amounts of extraordinary losses and other costs expected to be incurred in connection with the conclusion of operations are currently being examined. Any matters that require disclosure in the future will be promptly disclosed.

As of August 03, 2026, Yamato Holdings published financial results for the second quarter of 2026, having revenues of 443.33B yen and net loss of -5.89B yen, representing a revenue increase of 1.4%, along with a slight increase in the loss per share compared to the same quarter last year. A positive note is that for the 7th consecutive quarter, the company's revenue line has increased compared to last year's corresponding quarter, which demonstrates the company's stability and its ability to grow in the future.
Moreover, the EBITDA margin witnessed a sharp rise from 1.52% in the same quarter last year to 1.89%. This increase is usually indicative of the company raising prices or implementing optimization techniques in its business sectors, leading to higher EBITDA margins and, consequently, improving the stock's performance in the future. Another notable figure in the negative aspect is the free cash flow for the quarter, which was 5.67B yen, decreased by -1.07B from the previous year's corresponding period. While there was no improvement in cash flow, the company's management paid a significant amount in dividends to its shareholders of 7.12B yen. The dividend yield for this stock is approximately 2.4%, and it trades at 48.6x times current year's earnings, which is higher than the sector average (P/E 10.8x).
