Nikon Corporation revised consolidated earnings guidance for the first half of the year ending September 30, 2025. For the first half, the company now expects revenue of JPY 313.0 billion, operating loss of JPY 8.0 billion, profit attributable to owners of parent of JPY 5 billion, basic earnings per share of JPY 15.20 as compared to previous guidance revenue of JPY 322.0 billion, operating profit of JPY 3.0 billion, profit attributable to owners of parent of JPY 3.5 billion, basic earnings per share of JPY 10.64. Revision of Consolidated Financial Forecast: The consolidated financial forecast for the first half of the year ending September 30, 2025 has been revised downward from the previous forecast by JPY 9.0 billion in revenue and by JPY 11.0 billion in both operating profit and profit before tax. This revision reflects the following factors: in the Imaging Products Business, the product mix has shifted downward due to changes in demand; in the Healthcare Business, sales have fallen short due to weakness in the U.S. market; and in the Precision Equipment Business, some sales are shifted from the first half to the second half of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026. The revised forecast also reflects the impact of U.S. tariffs, which had not been factored into the previous forecast. On the other hand, profit attributable to owners of parent has been revised upward by JPY 1.5 billion, reflecting the recognition of JPY 9.3 billion in deferred tax assets (income taxes-deferred) associated with the resolution to dissolve and liquidate a consolidated subsidiary.

2025-05-03
Nikon Corporation revised consolidated earnings guidance for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025. For the year, the company expects revised revenue of JPY 715,000 million, operating profit of JPY 2,500 million and profit attributable to owners of parent of JPY 4,500 million and basic earnings per share of JPY 13.13 compared to previously expected revenue of JPY 720,000 million, operating profit of JPY 19,000 million and profit attributable to owners of parent of JPY 16,000 million and Basic earnings Per Share of JPY 46.63. Reason for revision: The Group's revenue is expected to be JPY 715.0 billion, slightly below the previous forecast, due to the underperformance of sales compared to plan in the Imaging Products and Digital Manufacturing Businesses. In addition, operating profit, profit before tax, and profit attributable to owners of parent are expected to fall short of the previous forecast due to the decline in revenue in the Imaging Products and Digital Manufacturing Businesses in addition to the recognition of one-time costs, as outlined in "1. Recognition of One-Time Costs" above. In light of these assumptions, the consolidated financial forecast announced on February 6, 2025 has been revised, as shown above. The consolidated financial forecast for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026 will be announced with the financial results on May 8, 2025.

Nikon revealed its financial results for the second quarter of 2025 on August 07, 2025, having revenues of 158.12B yen and net income of 9.47B yen, reflecting a 3.5% decline in revenue, coupled with a substantial increase of about 262.1% in EPS relative to the corresponding quarter last year.
In addition, the EBITDA margin droped sharply from 7.8% in the corresponding quarter last year to 5.8%. A decrease in operating profitability may indicate a difficulty in sales or an increase in operating expenses, potentially harming the stock's future performance. Negatively, there is another notable figure. The quarterly free cash flow was -5.81B yen, which is a decrease of -15.84B yen over the same time last year. While there was no improvement in cash flow, the company's management paid a significant amount in dividends to its shareholders of 8.06B yen. The dividend yield for this stock is approximately 3.5%, and it trades at 38.1x times current year's earnings, which is higher than the sector average (P/E 14.6x).
