The Yokohama Rubber Company, Limited, H1 2026 Earnings Call, Aug 10, 2026
2026-06-06
The Yokohama Rubber Company, Limited revised consolidated earnings guidance for the first half ending June 30, 2026 and fiscal year ending December 31, 2026. For the first half, the company expects sales revenue of JPY 610,000 million as same as expected previously, operating profit of JPY 86,000 million compared to the previous forecast of JPY 67,500 million, profit attributable to owners of the parent of JPY 45,000 million compared to the previous forecast of JPY 26,000 million, and basic earnings per share of JPY 286.25 compared to the previous forecast of JPY 165.39. for the year, the company expects sales revenue of JPY 1,300,000 million as same as expected previously operating profit of JPY 191,500 million compared to the previous forecast of JPY 173,000 million, profit attributable to owners of the parent of JPY 109,000 million compared to the previous forecast of JPY 90,000 million, and basic earnings per share of JPY 693.36 compared to the previous forecast of JPY 572.50. Reasons for the revision: The revision to the Company's forecast for consolidated earnings in the first half of FY2026 reflects a gain on the transfer of fixed assets related to the sale of its former plant in Israel previously operated by Yokohama Rubber consolidated subsidiary Alliance Tire Company Ltd. that was reported on April 16, 2026 in "Notice regarding transfer of fixed assets held by a consolidated subsidiary." Yokohama Rubber expects to record a gain on the asset transfer of approximately ¥30 billion as "Other income" in its FY2026 first-half results. The Company also expects to post an increase in "Other expenses" owing to the posting of one-time costs related to various measures being taken to optimize the Company's global business and to revisions of other provisions, etc. Reflecting these factors, the Company has revised its previously announced first-half forecasts. Regarding the Company's full-year forecast, while the impact of the situation in the Middle East is expected to increase costs more than previously forecast, the Company expects that impact will be offset by sales price optimization, various cost-reduction measures, and a weaker-than-previously forecast yen exchange rate. It therefore expects to secure sales revenue and business profit equal to the previously announced levels. The revision to the Company's full-year consolidated earnings forecast reflects the impact from the gain on the transfer of fixed assets and other factors mentioned above. At this time, the Company's dividend forecast is unchanged, but management will conduct due consideration of its forecast based on first-half results and the outlook for the second half of FY2026.

On August 10, 2026, The Yokohama Rubber shared its financial results for the second quarter of 2026, with revenues of 335.59B yen and net income of 57.86B yen, reflecting a 10.4% uptick in revenue, in addition to a substantial 114.4% rise in EPS compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year. A positive sign is that for the 18th consecutive quarter, the company has demonstrated an increase in its income line compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year, indicating the company's stability and potential for growth in the future.
In addition, the EBITDA margin rose sharply from 17.35% in the corresponding quarter last year to 31.31%. It often signifies that the company has raised prices or implemented optimization methods in its activity sectors, leading to an increase in EBITDA margins and, as a result, should support the stock's performance in the future. Negatively, there is another notable figure. The quarterly free cash flow was -6.93B yen, which is a decrease of -22.43B yen over the same time last year. Even though the company's cash flow did not improve, the management returned a substantial amount of 6.7B yen to shareholders, of which 6.7B yen was paid as a dividend and 3M yen as a repurchase of Common Stock. It is important to note that the stock's dividend yield stands at approximately 3.6%, and it trades at 7.1x times current year's earnings, which is lower than the sector average (P/E 10.9x).
