Sumitomo Forestry Co., Ltd. revised consolidated earnings guidance for the full year ending December 31, 2026. For the year, the company expects net sales of JPY 2,950,000 million, operating income of JPY 143,000 million, net income attributable to owners of parent of JPY 60,000 million and net income per share of JPY 97.85 compared to previous guidance of net sales of JPY 2,590,000 million, operating income of JPY 157,000 million, net income attributable to owners of parent of JPY 95,000 million and net income per share of JPY 155.09. Reasons for the revision to the financial results forecast: In the Overseas Housing business, net sales are expected to exceed the previously announced amount as a result of Tri Pointe Homes Inc. (hereinafter "TPH") becoming a subsidiary. On the other hand, operating income, recurring income, and net income attributable to owners of parent are expected to fall below the previously announced amounts. The acquisition of TPH gives rise to the amortization of goodwill and other items, as well as share acquisition-related expenses and interest expenses. In addition, in the U.S. single-family homes business, income is expected to fall below previously announced forecasts, mainly because prospective homebuyers maintained a wait-and-see attitude amid persistently high mortgage rates and uncertainty over the economic outlook, and because of the provision of incentives. Furthermore, in the U.S. real estate business, the number of properties sold decreased, and valuation losses were recorded on certain LP investments following a detailed review of the profitability of individual projects.

As of August 13, 2026, Sumitomo Forestry published financial results for the second quarter of 2026, having revenues of 731.18B yen and net income of 10.13B yen, indicating a significant 29.8% surge in revenues, along with a significant decline of approximately 64.3% in EPS compared to the same quarter last year. A positive note is that for the 11th consecutive quarter, the company's revenue line has increased compared to last year's corresponding quarter, which demonstrates the company's stability and its ability to grow in the future.
Moreover, the EBITDA margin decreased significantly from 9.46% to 6.45% in the comparable quarter previous year. A decline in operating profitability can signify a problem with sales or a rise in operating expenses, which could be detrimental to the stock's performance in the future. It is important to note that the stock's dividend yield stands at approximately 3.7%, and it trades at 9.4x times current year's earnings, which is lower than the sector average (P/E 11.7x).
